If ''Cheers'' is the place where everybody knows your name and is glad to see you, then Wally's is where nobody knows you or cares if you're coming or going. First things first: Wally's is not a date bar. It's not a place to people-watch. Wally's is a place to toss back some drinks and not worry about who you're with or what you're wearing. It's as old-school as old-school gets. And that's just fine. A true dive bar in all the beauty of the concept, Wally's is real. The bar part of Wally's is narrow, dark and smoky. It won't fit a whole lot of people, but so what? You're there to drink, not mingle. Walk into the next room and you are in a liquor store, complete with shelves, boxes of beer and liquor. You can sit in there as well, but you might have to dodge customers coming in to pick up drinks to take home. Because Wally's is located a few miles from downtown, it doesn't attract the tourists or the typical downtown crowd. Locals come here to get away from all that hoopla -- so be sure you don't bring any of it with you. Now this isn't to make Wally's sound like a bad place because it's not. Just don't expect any Disney-esque family atmosphere or trendy specials. What you should expect (and will certainly get) is space to have a few drinks at your own pace and for people to mind their own business. Just remember to mind yours as well. -- Faiyaz Kara
