You don't have to be part of the city's ever-expanding goth subculture to enjoy Ye Olde Original Dungeon, but it helps. Known to locals simply as the Dungeon, the edifice it occupies is just that: merely entering requires navigating a tiny stone passageway and crossing a moat of sorts. If you believe the owners, the edifice has a sordid history of opium, white slavery and murder. These days, however, it serves as one of the city's finest late-night spots. The Dungeon doesn't even open its doors until midnight. But when they do, an extremely hip yet casual crowd sidles in. Blood red, dank and not for claustrophobes, the club is split into three sections: the main bar; the "sound bar," featuring a minuscule but mirrored dance area; and the "Venus Bar," where the decadent go to drink amid skulls and torture paraphernalia. The signature drink is an evil yet tasty little cinnamon-flavored concoction called Dragon's Blood.
